Madhya Pradesh bagged the Best Tourism State Award in 2012. It is called the Heart of India because of its location in the centre of the country. The natural beauty of Madhya Pradesh is equally varied. One third of the state is forested and offers a unique and exciting panorama of wildlife. It has a rich cultural heritage of all the major Indian religions such as Islam, Hinduism and Buddhism. Special Tourist Attractions in MP: Gwalior> The great thing about Gwalior is that it’s so accessible – only two hours drive from Agra and the Taj Mahal. Apart from that, the main attraction at regal Gwalior is its massive hilltop fort that towers over the city. The Kanha National park has a significant population of Royal Bengal Tiger, leopards, the sloth bear, Barasingha and Indian wild dog. The lush sal and bamboo forests, grassy meadows and ravines of Kanha provided inspiration to Rudyard Kipling for his famous novel “Jungle Book ” Water sports & Boating > Boating is an amazing experience along the marble rocks at Bhedaghat with an elevation of hundred feet on either side of the Narmada River. In the moonlit night, it becomes even more enchanting as the river water seems like a silver screen. Rafting in Betwa River in Orchha is also a most enjoyable experience.

Government Museum, Chennai is a multi-purpose State Government Museum located in Egmore, which is the heart of the city, spreading to an area of 16.25 acres of land. Six independent buildings in this Museum campus has 46 galleries.The museum contains exhibits ranging from contemporary artifacts to prehistorical findings. Sculptures and bronzes of various periods, sections for zoology, anthropology and geology impress every visitor. Buddhist sculptures found in the Amaravathi section depict the events recorded in the life of the Buddha.
Nilgiri Mountain Railway is a railway in Tamil Nadu. This railway still relies on its fleet of steam locomotives. The famous Hindi song “Chal Chhaiyya Chhaiyya..” from the movie “Dil Se” was shot on the roof top of Nilgiri Mountain Railway.
Local people and tourists have led a demand for steam locos to once again haul this section. The ‘Nilagiri Passenger’ train covers a distance of 42 KM, travels through 208 curves, 16 tunnels & 250 bridges. The uphill journey takes around 4.8 hours and the downhill journey takes 3.6 hours. There are 5 stations between Mettupalayam and Coonoor – Kallar, Adderley, Hill Grove, Runnymede and Kateri – and, at one time, there were five between Coonoor and Ooty too. The train’s speed is averages 10.4 km/ hour and is perhaps the slowest in India
