Madhya Pradesh -“Heart of India”

Madhya Pradesh bagged the Best Tourism State Award in 2012. It is called the Heart of India because of its location in the centre of the country. The natural beauty of Madhya Pradesh is equally varied. One third of the state is forested and offers a unique and exciting panorama of wildlife. MPheart It has a rich cultural heritage of all the major Indian religions such as Islam, Hinduism and Buddhism. Numerous monuments, rivers, caves, carved temples, Buddhist Stupas and medieval forts and palaces tell the tales of kaleidoscopic history of India. Since it was the largest state before Chhattisgarh split from it, it has a varied landscape. The Khajuraho Group of Monuments, the Rock Shelters of Bhimbetka, the Devi Jagdambi temple and the Buddhist monuments in Sanchi are declared as World Heritage Sites by UNESCO.

Special Tourist Attractions in MP:

Gwalior> The great thing about Gwalior is that it’s so accessible – only two hours drive from Agra and the Taj Mahal. Apart from that, the main attraction at regal Gwalior is its massive hilltop fort that towers over the city. Gwalior Fort is the major tourist attraction in Gwalior

Ujjain> It is a major attraction for devotees from all over the world. The place has some of the most artistic temples such as Mahakaleshwara. It is an ancient temple, which has one of the 12 important Jyotirlingas. The temple is said to be one of the abodes of Lord Shiva. It also has huge shrine of the Lord facing the south as pet tantric traditions. Mahakaleshwar temple is thus an important pilgrim attraction in Ujjain.

Khajuraho Erotic Temples > Khajuraho is the city of great temples located in Chattarpur district. There are over 20 temples abounding in erotic sculptures. It also depicts thousands of love positions inspired from the famous Indian book on erotica, the Kamasutra. The Khajuraho erotic temples are rated as one of the top historical destinations in India.

Bandhavgarh & Kanha National Parks> Bandhavgarh & Kanha National Parks are among the top national parks in India. Bandhavgarh, while being relatively difficult to reach, is the best place to see tigers in the wild in India. The Kanha National park has a significant population of Royal Bengal Tiger, leopards, the sloth bear, Barasingha and Indian wild dog. The lush sal and bamboo forests, grassy meadows and ravines of Kanha provided inspiration to Rudyard Kipling for his famous novel “Jungle Book ”

Water sports & Boating > Boating is an amazing experience along the marble rocks at Bhedaghat with an elevation of hundred feet on either side of the Narmada River. In the moonlit night, it becomes even more enchanting as the river water seems like a silver screen. Rafting in Betwa River in Orchha is also a most enjoyable experience.
