How to charge different shipping for all states in Kogan Marketplace

This is a common limitation with Kogan ↔ Shopify integrations via Commercium, so you’re not alone 👍
Let me explain why it’s happening and what practical options you have to charge different shipping per Australian state.

Why this is happening

  • Kogan Marketplace controls shipping, not Shopify.

  • When you integrate Kogan → Shopify using Commercium, the shipping charge is sent from Kogan, not calculated by Shopify.

  • By default, Kogan uses a single flat shipping price for “Australia”, unless you configure state-based shipping inside Kogan Seller Centre.

👉 Shopify shipping zones will NOT apply to Kogan orders.

What you CANNOT do ❌

  • You cannot use Shopify shipping profiles or state-based rates for Kogan orders

  • You cannot override shipping in Commercium

  • You cannot calculate shipping dynamically in Shopify for Kogan customers

All shipping logic must be handled inside Kogan

Correct way to charge different shipping per state (Recommended) ✅

Option 1: Configure State-Based Shipping in Kogan Seller Centre

  1. Log in to Kogan Seller Centre

  2. Go to:
    Settings → Shipping

  3. Create separate shipping regions:

    • NSW

    • VIC

    • QLD

    • SA

    • WA

    • TAS

    • NT

    • ACT

  4. Assign different shipping prices to each state

  5. Link the shipping template to your products

✅ This is the best and cleanest solution
✅ Shipping will correctly sync to Shopify via Commercium

Option 2: Create Multiple Kogan Shipping Profiles (Advanced)

If you sell bulky or heavy items, you can:

  • Create multiple shipping templates in Kogan:

    • Metro States

    • Regional States

    • Remote States (WA / NT / TAS)

  • Assign templates based on SKU or category

⚠️ Still managed only in Kogan, not Shopify

Option 3: Include Shipping in Product Price (Workaround)

If Kogan shipping rules feel restrictive:

  • Increase product price

  • Set flat $0 or low shipping

  • Average the shipping cost across states

⚠️ Not ideal but sometimes used by sellers
